Rearcross 'B' 2 - Clodiagh Rangers 'C' 0

Rearcross B collected their first 3 points of the season in this midweek game as a result of a strong and determined display against Clodiagh Rangers. Due to other commitments and good numbers Rearcross offered up opportunities, making 7 changes from the last game against Shannon Rangers. Those opportunities were seized upon with sturdy dispays across the field, most noticeably by the the pivotal plays launched by Pj McLoughlin and Damien Nolan. The return of Jim Caplis to Goalkeeping duties shored up a more confident defence. A hard challenge upon Darren Quigley presented his replacement Michael O Gorman with an early entry into the game. The midfield dominance and attacking opportunities conjured up by Rearcross produced numerous shots on goal, which on another day would have been rueful. Overall it was a sturdy and hard working effort that brought the home side their victory. The two goals for Rearcross one in each half secured courtesy of an in-form Kieran Devitt. Good goalkeeping at both ends made this game entertaining, but it was Devitt’ instinctive finishing that swayed the difference. It finished Rearcross B 2, Clodiagh Rangers 0.
