Rearcross 'A' 1 - Holycross 'A' 4'
Rearcross 'A' started the game with great gusto and went one nil up with the first attack of the half. Eamonn Devitt sent a long cross field pass to Davy O Toole who ran onto it and slotted home. Holycross had their share of the chances also and hit the crossbar in the 14th minute. It was action at both ends as Robert Harrington set up Derek O Toole whose effort was cleared. Darragh Ryan in the Rearcross goals was then called into action in the 26th minute when he came off his line to put in an effective tackle and clear the ball. On the 34th minute Holycross got themselves back in the game with a free kick which ended up in the back of the Rearcross net. Good play from Evan Gleeson and Derek O Toole saw the ball break out to Liam Ryan who shot just wide. The second half started with Holycross hitting the crossbar in the early stages. Rearcross had the next opportunity of the game when Robbie played the ball wide to Evan Gleeson who crossed the ball. Matt Ryan saw the resulting header go just wide. Holycross gave the Rea boys a scare in the 75th minute when a header from a corner hit the post and rebounded out. Rearcross nearly pulled ahead in the 78th minute when Gary O Brien crossed to Derek O Toole who had his shot saved. Holycross then turned the screw and on the 80th minute went ahead. In the remaining minutes Rearcross went in search of an equaliser but were stung on the break and Holycross scored two late goals leaving the score line 4-1.
