Rearcross 'B' 4 - Templetuohy 0
Rearcross ‘B’ got back to winning ways with a comprehensive four nil league win over Templetuohy in Bilboa last Sunday, Rearcross signalled intent in the fifth minute when Joey Nolan set Gary Ryan through and who was luckless to see his shot thump the crossbar. The hosts kept the pressure on with a Joey Nolan strike which was saved before PJ McLoughlin headed over from a corner kick on ten minutes, PJ McLoughlin came close again with a header four minutes later. It was end to end at this stage as Reacross custodian Jim Caplis was quick of his line to save. Rearcross started to gain a foothold after this and got the breakthrough in the 22nd minute when Leo Ryan’s curling corner was deflected to the net. The Killoran Park side were denied an equalizer after Jim Caplis turned the ball over the bar twelve minutes before the half time whistle. Rearcross took a two nil lead to break when John Ryan Luke pulled back to Theo English who let fly with a fine effort which was saved, however Gary Ryan read well and followed through to prod home his sixth of the season. It might have been three nil after that only for Joey Nolan’s rocket to rebound off the cross bar. Reacross were in the driving seat again in the second half, a Tom Hickey drive was over the bar six minutes in before the visitors threatened with a shot from distance which flew over the target. The Slieve Felim side stretched it to three nil eighteen minutes from time when PJ McLoughlin latched on to a John Ryan Luke clearance and sliced between the posts following a mazy solo run. It was proving to be a luckless outing for Joey Nolan when his effort was on target but the Templetuohy custodian made the save. Rearcross clinched the win in the 80th minute after Sean Kennedy headed down to Tom Hickey who finished with aplomb to the back of the net.
