Rearcross 'B' 1 - Ballymackey 'B' 0

Rearcross made it back to back wins with a gutsy one nil victory over Ballymackey ‘B’ in Rearcross last Sunday. The visitors had much the better of it in the opening half hitting the crossbar twice. The only goal of the tie came after twenty five minutes when Joey Nolan’s low pile driver from distance out on the right went all the way to the net. Sean Kennedy also threatened for the Slieve Felim side with a well struck effort which was saved while Rearcross keeper Jim Caplis was also in the action at the other end with a good intervention late in the half. It was proving to be a difficult outing for the Ballinree side when the woodwork came to the rescue again for Rearcross ten minutes in to the second half. Sean Hickey threatened for the home team but the effort was blocked at the near post. Jim Caplis was to the fore again with a superb reflex save from a headed effort, Theo English got forward to get a shot in, however Ballymackey closed in to averted the danger. Jim Caplis was a key player for Rearcross and advanced to snap out the danger when a goal looked on fifteen minutes from time, Gary Ryan broke through on goal late on but the Ballymackey custodian narrowed the angle to deny the former Olympian. All in all, a strong all round performance from Rearcross that saw the Thomas Kennedy managed outfit dig out an unlikely win with a rub of the green also playing it’s part.
