Borroway Rovers 2 - Rearcross 'A' 2
(Rearcross win 3-1 on penalties)

Rearcross A travelled to Loughtagalla Park on this surprisingly sunny winter’s morning to play Borroway Rovers in the second round of the Tipperary cup. The home side have been impressive this season sitting second  in the league and it was the home side that started the brightest when good work down the left hand side saw an opportunity fall to Keith Moore who was unlucky to see his effort skim off the outside of the right hand post. Rearcross got a hold in the game after this with Patrick Deegan and Darragh Kennedy having shots from long range. Borroway were pushing for a break and were duly rewarded just before the half when a through ball was played and the on rushing Borroway striker slotted the ball past the oncoming Jim Caplis in the Rearcross goal. After the break and having regrouped; Rearcross started he brighter with James Deegan having a shot from just outside the box saved by the Borroway custodian.  Then Davy O Toole was unlucky with a header that looped over the upright. Borroway however were still dangerous and nearly caught Rearcross on the counter only to be denied by Jim Caplis from point blank range. Rearcross went to the bench introducing Liam Ryan and Declan O Toole with fifteen minutes remaining and it looked like a good decision with the duo having a part to play in Rearcross equaliser. Rearcross winning possession in their own half with the ball coming to Patrick Deegan who in turn played Davy O Toole in to score from close range. The game went to extra time with little to separate the teams only that the home team took the lead from a free kick that was headed to the net just before the break in extra time. Rearcross came out in the second half and gave everything to get an equaliser. It was a case of brothers singing from the same hymn sheet when Rearcross got their equaliser when James Deegan picked out his brother Patrick with a 40 yard cross only for Patrick to get his head on it to equalise for the away side in the dying moments of the game. The match went to penalties with the away side coming away on the right side of the shootout 3-1 after some heroics from Jim Caplis in the Rearcross goal saving 3 out of 4 Borroway penalties. Rearcross will be looking forward to the next round of the cup where they will play premier division side BT Harp’s.
