Rearcross U-16's 4 - Borrisoleigh 3

Rearcross U-16's entertained league champions Borrisoleigh last Saturday in Rearcross and came out of top in a seven goal thriller that earned Rearcross a league runners up spot for the second year running, it was Borrisoleigh who took the lead after five minutes with a chipped effort, James Gough signalled his later intent when his volley was saved by Jim Caplis on the 15th minute mark, Rearcross equalised in the 39th minute when Thomas Grace's cross was headed to the top corner by David Murray. Rearcross took the lead on 43 minutes when James Gough's shot squeezed just in side the upright, James Gough was on song and made it 3-1 ten minutes later when he carved through the visiting defence before finishing beautifully to the net. James Gough grabbed his hat-trick in the 56th minute after connecting with David Murray's cross and left the Borrisoleigh keeper with no chance, Borrisoleigh brought it back to 4-2 in the 62nd minute with a well worked goal, the league champions added a third rather fortuitously a minute later however it wasn't enough to deny Rearcross the victory and a well deserved runners up spot in the First Division League.
