Rearcross U-14's 0 - Killavilla Utd. 5
Rearcross U-14's faced a difficult Cup tie against a strong Killavilla
side last Saturday morning in Rearcross and went under on a five nil score
line to the Premier Division side from Roscrea, an entertaining first half
saw Killavilla take a two nil lead to the break after Rearcross enjoyed
a large share of the possession but failed to make it count on the score
sheet. A good high ball in from the left by Cormac McDonnell had the visiting
keeper in all sorts of trouble as the wind played havoc with the flight
of the ball, however the net minder did well to tip the ball out from under
the cross bar, Colm Nolan threw himself at the ball as it dropped but his
slight contact failed to steer the ball goal bound. A few minutes later
Colm Nolan did well to earn a corner after a through ball from Ger Grace
out on the right, William Horrigan delivered a good ball but the visiting
defence dealt with the danger. After the restart Killavilla took full advantage
of the stiff wind and began to set up plenty of chances, Greg Kennedy produced
some good saves in both halves, turning a fine header around the post in
the first half and then stopping a point blank shot at the edge of the six
yard box in the second period, however there was little he could do to keep
out a Killavilla attack who tacked on three more goals in the second half.
Rearcross had good performances on the day from Greg Kennedy, Sean Hickey
and Ger Grace.
