Rearcross U-14's 2 - Shinrone 4
Rearcross U-14's were at home to Shinrone in the league last Monday morning
and went under on a 4-2 score line against the Offaly side, Rearcross enjoyed
a two nil lead at the half way stage after Colm Nolan gave Rearcross the
lead in the 10th minute with a fine finish, then a period of sustained pressure
on the visitors five minutes before the break saw the ball forced to the
net off a Shinrone defender. It was all Shinrone in the second half and
David Downey signalled intent two minutes in with a goal from close range.
Michael Cleary levelled for Shinrone minutes later following a corner kick,
Shane Lenihan released Colm Nolan in the 61st minute, this time the ball
pulled just wide of the Shinrone upright. The visitors counter attacked
and Greg Kennedy seemed to have done enough with a fine reflex save, however
Conor Cleary was fastest to react and knocked the ball over the line. Rearcross
were soaking a lot of pressure at this stage with William Horrigan and Sean
Hickey to the fore, however David Downey sealed the win for Shinrone with
two minutes remaining after driving the ball to net following a goalmouth
scramble.
