Rearcross U-14's 8 - Borroway Rovers 1
Rearcross U-14's were at home to Borroway Rovers last Saturday and collected
full points against the Thurles side, the opening passages of play were
competitive as both teams had chances with both Shane Lenihan and Marc Murphy
testing the Borroway goalkeeper. Rearcross opened their account in the 15th
minute with a well taken goal by Tommy Kennedy, which was followed quickly
by a fine goal by Shane Lenihan. The game remained on a knife-edge until
Tommy Kennedy doubled his tally with a fantastic strike just as the half
time whistle was about to be blown. A determined Borroway team came out
all guns blazing in the second half and got their rewards with a fine goal
in the 38th minute. Rearcross responded well with Shane Fahey scoring two
delightful goals in the 41st and 50th minute. Blane Lenihan scored his first
of the game to put Rearcross further ahead, James O' Connor capped off a
fine performance with a superb goal in the 65th minute while Tommy Kennedy
completed a well deserved hat trick with a minute remaining. A solid Rearcross
defence along with goalkeeper Brendan Shanahan impressed throughout, Sean
Hickey, Tommy Kennedy, and James O' Connor played best on the day.
