Sallypark 3 - Rearcross U-10's 5
Rearcross U-14's were the visitors to Sallypark last Saturday morning for this league fixture and pulled out all the stops to secure maximum points on a 5-3 score line, it was the home side who made the better start and went ahead when a long ball over the Rearcross defence was steered home for a well taken goal. Rearcross equalised on 12 minutes when good work from Shane Fahy on the wing produced a delivery to Tommy Kennedy who volleyed to the net from close range. Rearcross were on top after this and it was to take some fine goalkeeping from the Sallypark custodian to keep the visitors at bay with three successive saves, however Rearcross eventually got the breakthrough a minute before half time when Brian Healy got on the score sheet. Rearcross took up running again the second half and increased their tally when Donal Kennedy was on target five minutes in, Sallypark pulled a goal back in the 47th minute with a rebounded effort, Sallypark turned on the heat after this and this time it was the Rearcross keeper who produced the heroics with Dave Carroll making a string of saves until the home side eventually equalised midway through the half. Rearcross got back on top after this and took the lead again when Tommy Kennedy tacked on his second of the day with a fine individual effort. Donal Kennedy copper fastened the win for Rearcross with fifteen minutes remaining with a well worked goal from close range.
