Templemore 'A' 5 - Rearcross U-10's 0

Rearcross travelled to Templemore on Saturday morning to play a second round fixture of the U10 cup. This was always going to be a tough task for Rearcross as they faced a premier division side who were on top form. The first goal came after 6 minutes when a Templemore corner was headed into the Rearcross goals in fine style giving Pat Carroll little chance of saving it. The Rearcross defence done their utmost to thwart further treats from the Templemore side however goal number two came after 11 minutes from close range. Rearcross enjoyed a bright spell towards the latter end of the first half and began to take control of the midfield area in particular however chances were few in front of the Templemore goalmouth. Templemore claimed their third goal 3 minutes from half time when a low shot from the right found its way to the net despite Pat Carroll getting a hand to it. A great individual effort from Patrick Carey saw him break through the Templemore defence just before the half time whistle but the ball didn’t bounce favourably for him and his effort was easily taken care of by the Templemore goalkeeper. The second half saw both sides battle hard however it was Templemore who added to their goal tally 6 minutes into the half with their fourth of the day following a great passing movement from the home side. Templemore enjoyed the better of the exchanges throughout the rest of the second half and added their fifth and final goal with 8 minutes remaining. Great credit must go to the Rearcross side who despite the scoreline continued to battle to the very end against a strong and formidable Templemore side.
