Rearcross played their final league game of the season on Saturday morning when they hosted the visiting Templemore side. Both sides started with great determination with chances produced at either end of the field, however it was Templemore who scored first with a great strike from Darragh Boyle to find the back of the net. Minutes later Templemore added a second from Arron Cummins and at that stage it seemed that the home side were going to experience a luckless day. With 3 minutes left on the clock for the half time whistle Adam Hurley received the ball on the left hand side of the Templemore goalmouth where he rounded his marker and finished with a low strike to the back of the net.
Rearcross started the second half the brighter of the teams and were rewarded after 4 minutes when Patrick Carey scored a fine goal on the left from an acute angle. Rearcross were very much in the game at this stage and once again it was Adam Hurley who produced the goods scoring his second of the day and giving the advantage to the home side. Patrick Carey added a fourth mid-way through the second half and at this stage it seemed Rearcross would collect all 3 points but great determination from the Templemore side saw them claw their way back with two late goals of their own from Darragh Boyle to level matters. The remaining minutes saw both teams battle hard to regain the lead however it was to finish all square with both teams sharing the spoils. The performance of the Rearcross side was a fitting end to a fine season. Great credit must go to each and every squad member who at all times throughout the season ably represented their club with admiration.
