Lough Derg 'B' 7 - Rearcross U-13's 4

Rearcross travelled to Ballina last Saturday morning to play Lough Derg B almost 2 months after their last league game. The visitors started off brightly but failed to make any inroads against a much bigger and stronger Lough Derg team. The home side took the lead after 10 minutes somewhat against the run of play and they went on to completely dominate the remainder of the half and laid siege to the Rearcross goal. Rearcross found themselves 3 more goals in arrears at the break. To their credit, Rearcross didn't drop the heads and made Lough Derg earn their victory with a battling second half performance. It was tit for tat throughout the remainder of the game as one side would score only to concede minutes later. Rearcross pulled a goal back through Patrick Deegan. The midfielder grabbed a second when his free kick from 20 yards found the roof of the net. Gary O'Brien was in the right place at the right time to finish to the corner after the Lough Derg keeper could only parry a shot into his path. Finally, a fine long range effort from Darragh Kennedy also found the back of the net with minutes remaining to leave the score 7-4 at the final whistle.
