Rearcross U-14's 0 - Holycross 4
Rearcross U11’s opened their league campaign last Monday night when they played host to Holycross under floodlights at the Rearcross FC grounds.
It was to turn out to be one sided affair as the visitors held the upper hand throughout the game and deservedly took the honours.
Right from the start Holycross looked dangerous, however they were finding it diifficult to find the Rearcross net as Pat Carroll denied them on several occasions. Finally the Holycross breakthrough arrived on the 19th minute when their first goal was scored from close range. A second goal soon followed after good work down the left hand side which opened up the Rearcross defence before a low drive found the back of the net.
The second half wasn’t much different with Holycross making great efforts to put the game beyond reach of the home side. Further good work from the Pat Carroll in the Rearcross goalmouth and a hard working defence kept Holycross at bay until the 40th minute of the game when the visitors 3rd goal arrived. The game was ended as a contest when Holycross found the net for the 4th time on the night with 14 minutes remaining. Reaacross created few real chances in the game and it was Holycross who were the happier team when the full time whistle sounded.
