Rearcross U-14's 5 - Nenagh Cetlic 3

Rearcross recorded the 2nd home league victory with a 5 -3 victory over Nenagh Celtic last Saturday morning. The hosts took an immediate lead with a goal of the highest standard. Dylan Ryan was released down the left wing by Patrick Deegan and the winger picked out Patrick Carey. And the Shanbally striker’s first time volley found the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Rearcross doubled their lead almost immediately when the Nenagh keeper failed to deal with a shot from Gary O’Brien and the ball dribbled into the net. Rearcross went 3 ahead midway though the half when Patrick Carey pounced on a lose ball in the penalty area to grab his second. Celtic pulled a goal back moments later when Rearcross failed to deal with a free kick into the box. However the home side restored their 3 goal lead when Patrick Carey ran on to a through ball from Patrick Deegan to round off his second hat trick in as many games. Again Rearcross allowed Nenagh back into the game as they failed to deal with a corner to leave Nenagh 2 behind at the break.

Rearcross were on top once more at the beginning of the second and went 5-2 ahead when Gary McMahon found the back of the net from inside the area. However, it was the visitors who were dominant for the remainder of the game. Again they pulled a goal back after the Nenagh winger was left unmarked in the Rearcross penalty area to head the ball home. Rearcross were under increasing pressure after this and almost conceded another as Nenagh were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes remaining. However, Rearcross were left off the hook as the spot kick was blazed over. This miss effectively finished the game as Nenaghs heads dropped and Rearcross took charge once more to ensure all 3 points stayed in Rearcross.
