Rearcross U-11's 1 - Nenagh AFC 'B' 3

Nenagh AFC were the visitors to Rearcross last Saturday and were confident of repeating the result of their previous encounter. Rearcross started well particularly in the midfield area where their passing and ball control were creating difficulties for Nenagh. It took 15 minutes of the game to elapse however before the first clear chance came to Rearcross. The ball broke out of the Nenagh defence and Adam Hurley’s strike went just right of the target. Despite the good play from the home side it was Nenagh who grabbed the opener after 22 minutes when a corner which was not cleared away from the Rearcross goalmouth was finished to the net. 4 minutes later a similar fate was to fall on the Rearcross defence again when another corner not being cleared away resulted in a 2 goal lead for Nenagh.

Nenagh started the second half full of confidence and after 3 minutes they showed their intentions of trying to increase their lead when they hit the upright of the Rearcross goals twice in quick succession. Rearcross continued to play good football throughout the field but found it difficult to get their own way in front of the Nenagh goalmouth. The home side finally got their break when Conor Nolan weaved through the Nenagh defence and struck high into the net with 7 minutes remaining. A comeback seemed to be on the cards at this stage but unfortunately it was short lived as Nenagh scored their 3rd of the day 4 minutes later when a fine strike came off the Rearcross upright and found the net.
