Rearcross U-10's kicked off their league campaign with a lively encounter against a Lough Derg combination at Rearcross FC Grounds last Saturday. Lough Derg made a flying start and hit the home side for three quick fire goals, Rearcross were also playing well and were denied by the visiting custodian who had a fine outing for the Ballina side between the posts. Rearcross conceded a fourth goal before good play down the left flank forced Lough Derg to concede an own goal to leave the visitors 4-1 up at the midway stage. Lough Derg made a strong start to the second half and tacked on a fifth, however Rearcross upped the ante and Patrick Dawson reduced the deficit with a fine effort. The home side kept on the attack and Cathal Kennedy made it 5-3 after breaking through the centre before rifling to the roof of the net. Lough Derg shut up shop after this to hold out for the win.
