Rearcross U-10's produced a sterling performance to claim their first league win with a 5-1 result over Moneygall at Rearcross FC Grounds last Saturday afternoon. The biting cold temperatures did not detract from a competetive encounter where both sides attacked from the kick off, Moneygall created the first chance of the game, however Cillian Kennedy blocked on the line. Rearcross took the lead on nine minutes when Patrick Dawson attacked down the right before swinging in to Cathal Kennedy who turned inside his marker before slicing to the corner of the net. Cathal Kennedy was in the action again two minutes later with his second of the outing following a long delivery from Sean Malone. Rearcross were enjoying the better of the exchanges at this stage as Stephen Rochford fired wide of the upright with a long range effort. The home side took a three nil lead to the break when Stephen Rochford set up Cathal Kennedy how rammed to the net to complete his hat-trick. Rearcross kept the pressue on after the restart and made it four nil two minutes in when Stephen Rochford bundled the ball over the line from close range. Moneygall didn't throw in the towel and pulled a goal back after Sean Kenneally broke down the right flank before blasting inside the near post. Moneygall dominated after this and were unlucky not to add to their tally. Stephen Rochford made it 5-1 to the home side midway through the half with a well struck effort. The woodwork denied Stephen Rochford a third when his free kick effort from distance came off the upright two minutes from time.
