Rearcross U-12's 2 - Moneygall 1

Rearcross U12's had to come from behind to record a 2-1 victory over Moneygall last Saturday in a league fixture played in Rearcross. Raymond Williams came closet for Rearcross during the early exchanges with an effort from inside the box. Moneygall were awarded a penalty ten minutes before the half time whistle, which left Rearcross goalkeeper Jim Caplis with no chance. Rearcross pushed hard for an equaliser before half time but were unable to breach the Moneygall defence. Rearcross could have been two nil down early in the second half but for a great save from Jim Caplis, minutes later Rearcross equalised when a James Gough free kick made its way through a crowed goalmouth and into the back of the net. Rearcross went in search of the winner with Cormac Nolan coming close when his shot hit the side netting midway through the half. Rearcross got the vital breakthrough with ten minutes left on the clock after a long pass out of defence found Danny O' Brien who coolly dispatched the ball into the bottom corner. Moneygall went all out for the equaliser and came close three minutes from time when Damien Wade had to clear off the line, Rearcross went on to hold out for a well deserved 2-1 victory.
