Rearcross U-8's played host to a Newport U-8 selection in a well attended challenge game played in Rearcross last Thursday evening with the visitors winning the encounter on a 8-1 scoreline. The wet conditions did not detract from a Newport side who were on top from the start and enjoyed a five nil lead at half time with four goals from Davy Ryan and a well taken goal by Jack Jones, Rearcross came more in to the game in the second half, however Davy Ryan was again on form and struck two more goals to give him the man of the match accolade. Jack Jones also added to his tally midway through the half. Rearcross scored a consolation goal five minutes from the final whistle when a good move involving Donal Kennedy and Michael Murphy found James Deegan in space who finished to the corner of the net from close range. Thanks to Newport Town AFC for providing after match refreshments for all participating players.
