Rearcross U-16's 0 - Kinnity Rovers 4
Rearcross U-16's were at home to Kinnity Rovers last Saturday
in a league tie and were on the receiving end of a four nil drubbing from
the Offaly side, Rearcross held their own in the opening quarter and came
close in the 14th minute when Colin O'Doherty wasn't far off the mark. Kinnity
created an opening five minutes later when Paul Maher broke on the right and
delivered a fine cross, which went a begging. Kinnity took the lead ten minutes
before half time when the ball was flicked to the net from a corner kick.
Rearcross went two behind just before the half way stage when the ball was
chipped to the net from fifteen yards. Rearcross did the early attacking in
the second half with Colin O'Doherty, Simon Kennedy and Nigel Ryan unlucky
not to register for Rearcross. A defensive blunder allowed the visitors in
for a third goal midway through the half which left Rearcross with an uphill
battle, Rearcross did keep the pressure on but failed to breakdown a solid
Kinnity rearguard, the issue was put beyond doubt in stoppage time with a
fourth goal from close range.
