First league win for Rearcross ‘B’ in comprehensive fashion

Shinrone were the visitors to Rearcross on Friday night for this Division Two league encounter. Rearcross had the bit between their teeth from the off in the tie and seemed to take their recent frustrating results out on the visiting team. Rea hit the front in the 2nd minute when a shot come cross by Paul Carey found its way to the back post where the onrushing Colm Carey finished to the net. Soon after it was 2 nil when a well worked move saw the ball out wide left and Colm Careys pin point cross found Eoghan Kavanagh at the back post and his headed effort found the roof of the net. With their tails up Rearcross added 3 more goals before the halftime whistle. The 3rd goal was a kick out from Brian Hammersley saw Rob Harrington flick the ball onto Oisin Kelly who rounded the keeper and finished to the net. The 4th goal followed soon after when a quick throw in from Paddy Ryan found Rob Harrington on the left wing who recycled the ball to Gavin Denihan who played a superb cross into the back post where Paul Carey rose above his marker and headed back across the keeper to give him no chance. The 5th goal was on the stroke of halftime when Rob Harrington fizzed a corner into the near post where Eamon Wade made a nuisance of himself and flicked the ball to Gavin Denihan who finished to the net.
Credit to Shinrone who started the 2nd half brightly but they were unable to breach a determined Rearcross defence. On the 50th minute Rea added a 6th goal when the ball broke at the edge of the box, Eoghan Kavanagh drove at the goal and beat his marker and finished to the corner of the net for a very tidy finish. Rea added three more goals in quick succession. The first of these was a great finish, Paul Carey intercepted a clearance from the Shinrone keeper and following his first touch he unleashed a half volley from 40 yards out which lobbed in over the keeper. Paddy Ryan was next to get in on the scoring when he collected the ball on the edge of the area and whipped the ball into the top corner of the net. Paul Carey completed his hat trick on the 65th minute when Rob Harrington picked up the ball on the centre circle and beat a few players before playing in Paul Carey one on one who made no mistake with his finish. There was still time for Rea to add another goal. Eoghan Kavanagh found Jayden Healy outside the box, the ball looped up and Jayden volleyed the ball straight into the top corner another great strike. A great team performance from Rea and they will be hoping this is the kickstart for more good results.
