Maximum points for Rearcross ‘B’ over Ballymackey 'B'

Rearcross welcomed Ballymackey on Sunday morning for the Division 2 clash. It was Ballymackey who got off to a dream start and found themselves 1 nil up after 5 minutes. Following a long free kick into the box the Rea defence failed to clear and the ball fell to Patrick Tuohy and his 1st time strike found the corner of the net. This seemed to spur Rea into action and they had the better of the rest of the half. They grabbed the equaliser on the half hour mark when Oisin Kelly picked up the ball on the right wing and cut inside beating a couple of defenders before shooting, his blocked shot fell into the path of Gary Ryan and his volley flew past the keeper and into the net. Rea hit the front 5 minutes later when a quick counter attack from a Ballymackey corner saw the ball break to Colm Carey on the left wing, he squared the ball to Eoghan Kavanagh who found himself one on one with the keeper and he kept his cool to slot home. The scoreline would remain 2-1 at the half time whistle. It was roles reversed at the start of the 2nd half as this time it was Rea who got the early goal on the 49th minute to make it 3-1. A quick throw in from Paul Ryan found Gary Ryan on the left wing and he spun his marker and his cross found Rob Harrington in the box whose left footed strike found the far corner of the net giving the keeper no chance. Rea had several chances to add to their tally but failed to do so. Colm Nolan's left footed strike hitting the post with the rebound falling to Paddy Ryan but his effort was straight at the keeper. Paul Carey thought he added to his tally for the year when his well hit strike was headed over the bar by the Ballymackey defender with the keeper beaten. Ballymackey had one final chance to score when the ball broke to Shane Gibbons but his rising shot went just over the bar.
