Rearcross U-14 Girls through to Shield Final

Rearcross U14 Girls hosted Arra Rovers U14 girls in Rearcross on Friday evening with a 7pm kick-off, with the winners advancing to the North Tipperary Girls U14 final. This game was played in dry weather conditions, with the pitch in Rearcross in great condition under the floodlit sky. Rearcross we’re on top for long periods of this game without it reflecting on the scoreline, however a long ball from goalkeeper Aoibheann Devitt found Ewa Kwiecinska in the Arra half, who ran onto the breaking ball and finished from inside the box. Ewa’s sister Zofia followed up her sisters scoring feat 10 minutes before the break when running from midfield with the ball, she unleashed an effort from outside the box which beat the Arra keeper. Rearcross didn’t have it all their own way with Arra breaking through on a few occasions only to be thwarted by our defence of Kennedy’s, Saorla, Grace and Kate with Anna Butler capably assisting, breaking up these attacks and launching ball forward.
The second half continued in much the same vein with Zofia Kwiecinska adding her second of the night with a late goal finishing up by Arra Rovers who were competitive throughout. Great team effort from Rearcross on the night, with full squad getting playing time, which sees the girls now through to face Ballymackey in the Girls U14 shield decider.
