Splendid displays from Rearcross U-9’s in Ballinree

Rearcross U-9’s turned in splendid performances in this U-9 Blitz played in Ballinree on Saturday afternoon with multiple ties against selections from Ballymackey and Nenagh Celtic. Rearcross fielded 2 teams with each team playing 4 games apiece leaving a lot of tired bodies at the end of the blitz, but all players really excelled on the day showing grit and determination from start to finish. Ewa Kwiecinska netted with a fine effort against Nenagh Celtic with Ellie O’Gorman and Eve Richardson also to the fore. Further games against Ballymackey saw Ethan O’Gorman, Jack Kennedy and Freddie Hartnett turning in outstanding displays in their debut campaign in the NTSFL. Oisin Canavan was the Rea sharpshooter on the day hitting a total of seven goals including a clean sweep in a 4-0 win over Nenagh Celtic, a brace in a 3-2 loss to Ballymackey and another strike in 2-2 draw with Nenagh Celtic. Cian Lenihan was also in the action with the other goal against Nenagh Celtic and Cian Lenihan also hit the target with a lovely effort in a 4-1 loss to Ballymackey. Charlie Ryan pulled off some superb saves between the sticks for Rea while Robbie Maher and Michael Johnson defended heroically, Fionn Guidera also had a fine outing in midfield, very well done to all players.
