De Blokkers visit Sean Treacy’s GAA Club – Friday 6th September 2024

De Blokkers visited Sean Treacy’s GAA Club on Friday 6th Sept where a talk on the history of the GAA was given by John Carey who also gave a demonstration on the art of hurley making. The Dutch visitors were then coached on the skills of hurling including ball striking before partaking in a ‘long puck’ competition. The captain of De Blokkers Jassir Ei Geunnioni was presented with a new hurley as a memento of their visit to the Slieve Felim hills. Thanks to John Carey and Sean Treacy’s GAA Club for facilitating the visit and also to the up-and-coming juvenile players for assisting with the coaching activities. The evening culminated with a Traditional Irish Music session in the Cross Bar.
