Away point for Rearcross U-13’s after hard fought encounter

Rearcross U-13 Boys were on their travels to Ardcroney for this league encounter against the home side and had to settle for a share of the spoils in what might yet be a valuable point on the road. The Rea boys enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the early stages and hit the front when Conor Nolan won the ball in midfield and set Jonathan Dawson through on goal who finished with aplomb. Ardcroney rallied and pulled it back to level pegging midway through the half. Rearcross dictated again after this setback and restored their advantage shortly before half time when great play from Conor McInerney in midfield released Patrick Carr who in turn delivered a menacing cross in to the box where Cathal Hickey, who was just on the pitch, read to perfection before finishing to the net with a splendid effort. The second half was again well contested and the woodwork was to deny the Slieve Felim side maximum points when a Stephen Ryan clearance picked out Andrew Hanley who combined with Jonathan Dawson with the latter’s inswinger finding Conor Nolan who was robbed to see his header come off the crossbar. The game turned after this and Ardcroney netted an equalizer five minutes from time. Rearcross will re-group for their next league fixture after a tough trek to Ardcroney on this occasion.
