Comprehensive win for Rearcross ‘A’ in Portroe

Rearcross were on the road again as they travelled to Portroe for their 3rd game of the league campaign against Arra Rovers. It was the home side who were fastest out of the blocks and they took the lead after 2 minutes when a ball in over the top saw the Rea defense failing to deal with it and Charlie Moran latched onto the ball to finish past Cathal Kennedy. This was as good as it got for the home side as Rea responded almost immediately and it would see the away side score 4 in a 10-minute spell. A free from the right saw Paddy Dawson whip a cross into the near post where Cillian Kennedy was on hand to head into the corner of the net. Rea took the lead a couple of minutes later when some good work down the right-hand side between Darragh Carr and Cillian Kennedy saw Cillian cross to the back post for the onrushing Eoghan Kavanagh who finished to the net 1st time. With their tails up it was 3-1 soon after when the returning Michael O Gorman flicked the ball through to Cillian Kennedy who made no mistake finishing to the corner of the net. It was that man Michael O Gorman who got the next goal, a good move saw Paddy Dawson play the ball out the right to Eoghan Sheldon whose 1st touch took the ball away from the defender and his pass found Michael just inside the box and he made no mistake drilling the ball across the keeper to the corner of the net. Arra managed to pull one back when a shot was blocked by Greg Kennedy but the ball fell to Brian McEvoy on the edge of the area and he made no mistake with a good finish to the corner of the net. Rea would add 2 further goals before HT. Michael O Gorman got his 2nd of the day when Cillian Kennedy put a great cross into the back post for Michael to head into the net. Paddy Dawson got Rea's 6th goal with a great strike from outside the box flew into the top corner.
From the restart Rea scored almost immediately when the front 2 combined again for Michael O Gorman to complete his hat trick. Good work on the right from Cillian Kennedy saw him cross to the back post where Michael was on hand to volley into the corner of the net. With half an hour remaining Oisin Reynolds was introduced to make his A team debut and he slotted seamlessly into centre half for the remainder of the game. Rea would add a further 2 goals before the end of the game. The 1st coming from a Paddy Dawson corner who whipped the ball into the 6-yard box where Eoghan Kavanagh scored with a bullet header. The final goal of the game saw the 2 other subs combine. Tireless work from Jack Nolan saw him win a free on the corner of the area. Paddy Dawson's effort was blocked out by the Arra keeper where Dave Brennan was quickest to react to finish off the rebound. Another big 3 points for Rea.
