Share of spoils for Rearcross ‘A’ in Ballinree

Rearcross FC A travelled to Ballinree to take on Ballymackey in their final league game of the year. Rearcross FC left with a point and sat in 2nd position in the Premier League Table after this weekends fixtures. Rearcross FC were sluggish from the outset and were punished in the opening quarter when a Ballymackey corner was headed home despite best efforts of Brian Nolan who cleared the initial effort off the line only for a Ballymackey midfielder to power the ball into the net. Rearcross FC got to grips with the pace of the game after this. Rearcross FC equalized when a long delivery from Cathal Kennedy was flicked on by Michael O Gorman. James Deegan rushed onto the ball and steadied himself before drilling the ball in off the post from a tight angle. Rearcross FC found themselves starting slow in the second half and conceded an early goal. A long range strike from Ballymackey rattled the post before falling back to an onrushing Ballymackey attacker who made no mistake in pouncing on the loose ball. Cathal Kennedy was certainly the busier of the two keepers throughout the fixture and made a number of flying saves to keep Rearcross in contention. Rearcross FC got the equalizer when Conor Nolan was brought down on route to goal. Michael O Gorman stepped up and whipped the resulting free kick into the top corner from all of 25 yards. An excellent finish from the Rearcross striker. Rearcross FC battled hard throughout the game and found it tough to carve out many clear cut chances. 2-2 was the final score. Thank you to all who travelled to support Rearcross all year. Rearcross FC A look forward to completing in their last competition Premier Division Cup in the coming weeks.
