Late equalizer for Rearcross 'A' in Ballinree

Rearcross were on their travels to Ballinree for a league fixture against Ballymackey. In the opening half it was tit for tat between the sides with both teams having good spells at different times. Rearcross were getting joy on both wings and it was James Deegan who had the 1st chance when he ran onto a ball in over the top but his goalbound strike was blocked by the defender. Cillian Kennedy had a couple of half chances as well but he failed to hit the target. The closest Rea came to taking the lead was through a Paddy Dawson freekick but it went the wrong side of the post. At the other end of the field Ballymackey's best chance of the opening half fell to Colm Maher. A through ball from Aidan White left Colm one on one with Cathal Kennedy who saved the initial shot and Greg Kennedy was able to get back to clear the danger. Rea nearly took the lead straight after the restart when Michael O Gorman's flicked header found Cillian Kennedy in the box but his 1st time volley flashed the wrong side of the post. From here Ballymackey would have their best spell of the game and they had 2 good chances before taking the lead. The 1st chance fell to Cathal Conneally when a cross found him at the back post but his shot went into the side net. The next chance fell to sub Liam Hogan when he nipped in ahead of the defender to gather the ball but his low strike was well saved by the Rea keeper. On the 65th minute the home side were rewarded when Aidan White gathered the ball just inside the area and his 1st time strike flew into the top corner giving Cathal no chance. From here Rea pushed hard for an equaliser and they got their reward in stoppage time. A long throw in from Eoin Sheldon into the box saw the ball break to Brian Nolan and his 1st time strike looped into the corner of the net. A good point in the finish for Rearcross.
