Share of spoils for Rearcross ‘B’ in Ballinree

Rearcross travelled to Ballinree for this league fixture against Ballymackey. Rearcross started brightly with Dave Brennan and Thomas Kennedy getting shots in on goal. A miss hit clearance from Ballymackey fell to Rearcross's Gary Ryan who finished superbly from distance to put Rearcross 1 up. Gavin Denihan for Rearcross made it 2 nil soon after and things were going well for the Congo Bar sponsored team. Ballymackey very nearly got one back when former Rearcross juvenile player Cathal Dervan hit the post with a good strike. Rearcross added a third when a solo effort from Dave Brennan ended with a successful shot to the net. Ballymackey nearly pulled one back just before half time but for Brian Hammersley in goal pulling off a good save.
The second half started with Ballymackey getting a goal back with the first 10 mins and then hit the post a couple of minutes later. Rearcross were finding it hard to reach the tempo they had in the first half and found themselves conceding a second goal leaving their lead at 1 goal. Rearcross tried hard to get their fourth, winning a corner and getting a few shots in on goal but failed to score. Ballymackey got their 3rd from a well struck free kick from outside the box in the 90th minute to earn a draw and deny Rearcross a victory. 3 all is how it ended.
