Narrow defeat for Rea 'B' at the Birdhill venue

Rearcross 'B'  were on the away trip again this week to neighbours Birdhill. Rearcross started brightly despite the squad being depleted with injuries and work commitments.  However Birdhill took the lead in the 11th minute when a well struck free from just outside the box made it's way to the net. Rearcross battled hard for the equaliser with Gary Ryan, Eoin Sheldon having shots on goal and Birdhill frantically clearing a couple of corners from Rearcross attacks.
The home side went in at half time 1 up and added to it 5 minutes into the second have to go 2 up. Good play between Eoin Sheldon and Brian Nolan on the 70th minute saw Brian skip past two defenders to reduce the lead to 1 with a well taken goal to the bottom corner. 5 minutes from the end nearly drew the Rea boys level when Gary Ryan's cross was met by the head of Declan O'Toole only for his effort to come of the crossbar. Two minutes later at the other end Felim Deegan put in a goal saving tackle in the six yard box just as the Birdhill striker was about to shoot. It finished 2-1 in favour of Birdhill but again another brave performance from Rearcross 'B'.
