Rearcross 'A' lose out by the narrowest of margins in Thurles

Rearcross FC travelled to Thurles to face Borroway Rovers in an entertaining fixture. Borroway needing a win to keep their title hopes alive came up against a Rearcross FC outfit who are neither winning the league or getting relegated regardless of their remaining results. It was all one-way traffic in the first half with Borroway using the elements and the playing surface to their advantage. Borroway went into the break two goals to the good. Their first came from a well dispatched penalty from the boot of S Dunne. Their second came when K Moore got a touch on a long ball as the ball rolled in to the net. The second half told a different story and Rearcross were unlucky not to leave with at least a point. Rearcross had a number of chances, Cillian Kennedy coming close for Rea and Paul Nolan almost caught out the Borroway rearguard with a quick corner. Rearcross got a deserved goal when Greg Kennedy sent in a searching cross only to be met by a Borroway defender. The ball powered into the top corner leaving the tie in the balance. Rearcross had a half dozen chances in the game that they could have converted. Eoin Sheldon came closest when he connected with an attacking corner. Too much purchase on the ball saw the ball veer an inch over the bar. Rearcross, not for the first time this year will feel like they have left points behind them having created enough chances to at least grab a draw. Best of luck to Borroway Rovers in the business end of the season. Thanks to the team of officials on duty today.
