Away win for Rearcross U-15 Boys in Templemore

Rearcross U-15 Boys finished 2023 on a winning note last Saturday with an away win in Templemore against BT Harps ‘B’. The visitors applied the early pressure and came close with a Jonathan Dawson effort that sailed over. The next play saw Sam Hackett win the ball from the kick out and a powerful run in to the BT Harps box saw the Rearcross number 6 unleash a low strike to the far corner of the net. Jonathan Dawson came close to doubling the tally but the effort was just wide. BT Harps were also having their moments and it took a fine save from Paddy Ryan in the Rearcross goal to deny Cathal Breen. Custodian Paddy Ryan then turned provider when his long kick out cleared the BT Harps defence before Jack Nolan’s speed made the difference as he was first on the ball to calmly dispatch past Dylan Ryan to give Rea a 2-0 advantage. The game was end to end at that stage as Jonathan Dawson and Jack Nolan came close for the Slieve Felim side while Paddy Ryan tipped over an effort from Domliolk Boroch at the expense of a corner kick. The resulting delivery was blocked by Paraic Carr who played the ball to Jonathan Dawson who in turn played a smart through ball to Jack Nolan who bagged his second of the outing. Rea were on a roll at this stage and made it 4-0 when an Oisin Reynolds free kick from out on the right was bravely headed home by Conor Carr. The hosts kept the game somewhat alive when Eoghan Anderson converted from the spot to leave a 4-1 scoreline at the halftime whistle.
Rearcross had the winning post in sight after the resumption as Jonathan Dawson netted to increase the advantage. Bob Hickey was in the action with a well time tackle that saw the ball released to Jack Nolan who played a brilliant pass to Jonathan Dawson who rounded the keeper before slotting the ball to the back of the net to leave no way back for the Templemore outfit on this occasion. The goal of the game came when Seanie Quinlan won the ball at right back and paced down the flank and passed to Darragh Reynolds who evaded double tackles before setting up Conor Nolan to score with aplomb. Conor Nolan copper fastened the win late in the game after being put through by Jack Nolan. Rearcross will now take time out before resuming their campaign early in the new year.
