Two nil defeat for Rearcross ‘B’ in Drombane

Rearcross B travelled to Clodagh on this away fixture with depleted squad numbers on the day but still put out a strong side. It was a tough battle on the day with scoring chances not too plenty. Dave Brennan had a shot saved and Mark Hogan had a free go over for the Rearcross side. Rearcross were dealt another blow when Captain on the day Paul Ryan went off injured which didn't help the visitors. It was Clodagh who scored first 10mins from half time . A corner swung was defended well first time round with defenders and the keeper all getting a block in but the ball ended up crossing the goal mouth to be tapped in by the Clodagh centre forward. The second half was much the same as the first. Rearcross pressing hard for an equaliser with their back four defending with gusto, getting brilliant tackles in on numerous occasions. Rearcross came close when Gavin Denihan put a ball cross the box with Ger O'Toole getting a touch on it but for the ball to shave the upright and go wide. Clodagh added a second on the 90th minute when a free was struck on target, saved by the Rearcross keeper but the ball spilt from his hands and Oisin Treacy finished to make it 2 nil. Rearcross put in another battling effort but came up short. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways on their next fixture with a full squad present.
