Gallant one nil win for the Rea boys in Drombane

Rearcross 'A' travelled to Drombane on Saturday evening to take on lead leaders Clodiagh Rangers FC. Rearcross v Clodiagh Rangers rarely fails to disappoint and this tightly fought battle was no different. Rearcross FC got into their rhythm after 15 minutes and began having stages of possession without troubling the resilient back four of Clodiagh Rangers. Cathal Kennedy in the Rearcross FC goal commanded his area well and claimed a number of crosses and long balls into the box. Rearcross FC threatened with a few half chances throughout the first period. Greg Kennedy steered an effort goal bound following a Brian Nolan corner.  Clodiagh Rangers had numbers on hand to block the attempt.
Clodiagh Rangers started the brighter in the second half by changing formation slightly. Rearcross FC repelled the attacks in the early few minutes. Rearcross FC finally found a space in behind the Clodiagh rearguard ten minutes into the second half. Michael O Gorman battled well on the right flank before whipping in a cross. Brian Nolan was on hand to head the ball home in a composed fashion. Rearcross FC dealt with any attacking threat posed by Clodiagh. Conor Nolan and Philly Deegan ensured that there was no easy route through the middle of the pitch. Nigel Ryan came close to doubling the Rearcross FC lead when his volley veered passed the upright. Chances were few in this fixture and both teams had to work hard to make any headway. Rearcross FC defended stoutly for the remainder of the tie and saw out the fixture taking all three points on offer.
