Away loss for Rearcross 'B'

Rearcross ‘B’ travelled north last Sunday to take on Cloughjordan ‘B’ at their newly opened grounds. Weather conditions were far from ideal for the fixture but credit to Cloughjordan, their pitch held up well. The game started as an evenly matched affair with both sides creating their share of chances. Rea were awarded a penalty on the 20th minute mark when Matt Feehan was upended in the box. Mikey Feehan stepped up to take it, only to be denied by the post. Cloughjordan broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with an Andrew Brennan goal. However, Rea responded immediately when Mikey Feehan rifled the ball into the roof of the net to level proceedings.
Cloughjordan came out a stronger team in the second half and regained their lead in the 55th minute when Shane Williams got through 1 on 1 with Brian Hammersley and managed to lift the ball over him and into the net. Clough extended their lead a few minutes later when Rea lost possession in midfield allowing Eoin Hogan and Ivo Martins through on goal giving Brian Hammersley no chance as the latter finished into an open goal. Mikey Feehan pulled one back for the away side on 65 minutes with a well-placed finish from inside the box. However, it would be Cloughjordan who would go on to score once more when Eddie Brady found the net with a header courtesy of a Cian Darcy corner. A disappointing result for Rea, who look to get their season back on track this Sunday with an away fixture vs Ballymackey ‘B’.
