Away win for Rearcross U-15 Boys in Glenbane

Rearcross U-15’s played their last away league match to Holycross on Saturday and got off to the perfect start when Jack Nolan set up Jonathan Dawson to score in the 1st minute. Rea kept the pressure on as Jack Nolan saw a strike on goal go just wide after good play by Sam Hackett and Jonathan Dawson in the build-up. Jack Nolan then saw a free kick saved by the Holycross shot stopper Roberto Ortega. Paraic Carr came to the fore to stop a Holycross attack, his clearance found Jack Nolan who raced clear of the Holycross defence but saw his effort hit the side netting. The best move of the first half saw a kick out by Paddy Ryan in the Rearcross goals find Conor Carr who played the ball to Sam Hackett, who in turn set up Jack Nolan whose thunderous strike hit the post and wide, much to the relief of the outstretched Holycross keeper.
Rearcross faced into a strong wind in the second half, but had the first effort on goal when Colm O'Meara was put through by Conor Carr, whose effort was saved by Roberto Ortego in the Holycross goals. Holycross did equalise in the 40th minute through a corner kick after Sean Butler reacted quickest to a loose ball in the Rearcross box. The Rearcross response was quick and re-took the lead again when a Jack Nolan free kick on the right flank found Oisin Reynolds free in space who dispatched the ball to the back of the net. Two more efforts by Jack Nolan and Jonathan Dawson on goals were kept out by the Holycross custodian. Paddy Ryan was quick off his line to deal with a Holycross attack moments later. Conor Nolan saw his effort on goals saved by the Holycross number one. Rearcross were then awarded a penalty, Jonathan Dawson stepped up but was luckless to see his effort lift over. Rearcross sealed the win with a third goal when smart play by Rearcross saw Seanie Quinlan combining with Darragh Reynolds with the latter linking up with Jonathan Dawson who released Jack Nolan who in turn made no mistake with a fine finish to leave Rea 3-1 victors on the day.
