Premier Division Shield
Semi-final defeat for depleted Rearcross 'A'
Rearcross made the journey to Villa Park, Roscrea for a Premier Division Semi Final against Killavilla. Due to a number of absences Rearcross had a threadbare squad of 12 and it just goes to show the importance of a squad as after 20 minutes, Rearcross were down to 10 men with 2 players having to leave the field injured. Killavilla sensed a weakness in a depleted Rearcross squad and took a 2 0 lead into half time. Rearcross to their credit battled hard for the 1st half and were unlucky themselves not to have a goal after good shots from James Deegan, Michael O Gorman and Colm Nolan. In the 2nd half the extra man advantage really began to count for Killavilla as the Rearcross legs began to tire after playing a game 48 hours earlier and being down to 10. Killavilla tacked on 3 late goals to leave the final score at 5 0. A disappointing result for Rearcross 'A' who will be hoping to mount a challenge to the established teams in the division this season.
Rearcross 'A': Paul Carey, Cathal Kennedy, Eamonn Devitt, Rob Harrington, Gary O Brien, Stephen Rochford, Kieran Devitt, James Deegan, James Rochford, Colm Nolan, Michael O Gorman and Gary Ryan.
