Understrength Rearcross U-14's bow out of U-14 Cup
Rearcross U14’s missing a number of players faced an arduous task in this U-14 Cup game away to Lough Derg ‘A’ on Tuesday evening. The opening exchanges were evenly exchanged as Paddy Ryan saved superbly in the Rea goals while at the other end Jack Nolan was unlucky with a good effort which flew over the bar. Lough Derg ‘A’ playing in the top flight division opened their account in the 10th minute with a well worked goal and doubled their tally on the 24-minute mark. The home side tacked on two more before the half time whistle to give the hosts a commanding four nil lead. Fair play to the boys from the Slieve Felims who didn’t throw in the towel and came close with efforts from Jack Nolan and Jonathan Dawson early in the second half, however it was a bridge too far for Rearcross on this occasion as the Ballina/Killaloe outfit bagged two more goals to copper fasten their place in the next round and are wished the best of luck in the remainder of the competition. Meanwhile, Rearcross U-14’s will re-group in preparation for a potential league title play-off game.
