Comprehensive victory for Rearcross U-14 Boys in the banner county

Rearcross U14’s travelled to Lough Derg on Saturday and came away 6-0 winners. Both sides exchanged some nice football but it was the Rearcross side that had the first effort on goal when a Jack Nolan strike went wide after good play by Conor Carr put Jack through. Conor Carr came close himself when a Rearcross corner kick found Jack Nolan who laid it onto Conor Carr and his effort from the edge of the box was just wide. Jack Nolan saw another strike go wide before he got himself on the score sheet in the 15th minute, Lough Derg tried a short kick out but brilliant pressure from Rearcross forwards saw the ball come to Conor Carr whose pass found Jack Nolan who drilled the ball past the Lough Derg keeper. An Oisin Reynolds free kick delivered into the box, saw a Conor Carr effort saved by the Lough Derg keeper. Rearcross scored again in the 20th minute when Conor Nolan set up his brother Jack who made no mistake. Rearcross scored again when a brilliant long pass by Oisin Reynolds over the Lough Derg defence was collected by Jack Nolan who completed his hat trick in the 25th minute. Rearcross made it 4 nil before half time when a Jack Nolan free kick found its way to Jonathan Dawson who finished smartly.
Rearcross kept up the pressure in the second half and two strikes by Jack Nolan and one from Jonathan Dawson kept the Lough Derg keeper busy. Jonathan Dawson scored his second of the game on 45 minutes after connecting with a Jack Nolan cross at the back post. The visitors continued to press as Cathal Hickey saw a good effort go wide and an Oisin Reynolds header from a corner kick was defended on the line. Darragh Reynolds and Conor Nolan came close in the 50th and 56th minute before Conor Carr made it 6-0 after weaving past three defenders before unleashing a brilliant shot to the top of the Lough Derg net. A great reward for a player that leaves everything out on the pitch week in week out.
