Rearcross 'B' conclude their season in Moneygall

Rearcross ‘B’ travelled to Moneygall last Monday evening to take on Moneygall ‘B’ in their final game of the season. There was a lot at stake for the home side in this fixture as a win or a draw would see them secure automatic promotion to the First Division next season while it was a dead rubber game for Rea. Rearcross got the first real chance of the game inside the first 5 minutes as Brian Hammersley played a through ball to Colm Carey whose effort rattled the crossbar. The home side were awarded a penalty just a matter of minutes later which was converted by Jonathan Powell. Joseph Troy added a second for Moneygall in the 29th minute with a brilliant finish from close range courtesy of a Jayden Coughlan cross to see Moneygall go in 2 ahead at the break.
Rearcross’ lack of options on the bench made the second half a gruelling affair while Moneygall had fresh legs in abundance. To their credit Rea defended well in the second half with Paul Carey snuffing out any danger from long balls. The game finished 4-0 to Moneygall with substitute Anthony Devereux and Jayden Coughlan both getting their names on the scoresheet. Congratulations to Moneygall ‘B’ on their well-earned promotion and well done to everyone involved with Rearcross ‘B’ in what has been a tough season.
