Rearcross U-14 Girls lose out in Lisbunny
Rearcross Girls U14's travelled to play their Nenagh Celtic counterparts on Monday 16th September and came away on the wrong side of a 4 nil scoreline. The 4-nil result isn't a true reflection on this game as a young Rearcross side were very much in touch throughout the tie and missed some opportunities. Nenagh Celtic are a well organised and skilful side who in the first half capitalised on two half chances in the Rearcross box and finished smartly to the back of the net. The Rearcross rearguard of Lauren Hartnett, Aoibheann Devitt and Shauna Carr repelled many Nenagh attacks and counter attacked swiftly, aided by a hard working midfield where Abbie Carroll and Orlaith Carr were willing runners.
Ten minutes into the second half Rearcross were given a lifeline ,where Kate kennedy (who gave Nenagh rearguard plenty of problems) was upended in the Nenagh Celtic box and the referee duly pointed to the spot for a penalty, unfortunately Zofia Kwiecinska spot kick was saved and cleared to safety. From here on Nenagh Celtic piled on the pressure and were rewarded with 2 further goals, Rearcross emptied their bench where some of our younger ladies got valuable playing time. Well done to Nenagh Celtic on a very sporting game which gives great encouragement to our Girls who were fiercely competitive throughout.
