Heavy defeat for Rearcross 'A' against a rampant BT Harps side

Rearcross welcomed high flying BT Harps on Friday night. The game started at a high tempo with both sides trying to gain the upper hand. It was the away side that struck 1st from a corner kick when Sean Guerins got a flick on at the near post to send the ball to the roof of the net. It was 2 nil soon after as BT seemed to have the Rea defence in all sorts of trouble from set plays. A Stevie Nolan corner from the left broke to Lorcan Campion inside the box and he made no mistake. BT were rampant at this stage and made it 3 nil when some good work from Lorcan Campion saw the ball through to Joe Johnson who finished neatly to the net. For the next 10 minutes Rea had their best spell of the 1st half but were unable to get a goal back. On the stroke of halftime BT effectively killed off the game when a long ball found its way through to Eanna McBride and he lobbed the onrushing Cathal Kennedy.
Rea started the 2nd half brightly with Michael O Gorman and James Deegan coming close. They were undone again though by another set piece when Eanna McBride got his 2nd of the night to make it 5 nil. With 10 minutes remaining Sean Guerins made it 6 nil with the pick of the goals on the night, he picked up the ball outside the box and whipped it into the top corner leaving the keeper stranded. A tough night at the office for the home side.
