Rearcross ‘A’ snatch late equalizer to earn a share of the spoils

Rearcross FC played out a thrilling encounter against BT Harps under lights this Friday evening, which ended in a 3-3 draw. Credit to our Grounds group for having the pitch in top condition. The opening half an hour saw BT Harps physically dominate proceedings and score the first two goals. One from a long ball into the box which was eventually rifled home by Mickey O'Meara in the 20th minute, the second coming off an attacking corner which was dispatched to the net again by Mickey O'Meara with a firm header on the 25th minute.
A tactical change saw Rearcross claw their way back into the fixture and create a number of chances. A Michael O'Gorman brace dragged Rearcross back into the fixture. In the 37th minute O'Gorman headed home from a Paddy Dawson Corner. Early in the second half a poachers finish saw the Rearcross FC talisman take the fight to the Templemore outfit in the 55th minute. Patrick Dawson once again was the provider. Rearcross FC fell behind with 15 minutes to go when a wide cross saw the ball fall to a Killian Fennell, who slotted home from close range. Rearcross dug deep and a vital point was salvaged when James Deegan kept the ball alive with a whipped cross to the back post. Cillian Kennedy broke through the lines and drove the ball into the BT Harps net in the dying embers of the game, Much to the delight of the Rearcross FC faithful in the stands.

Well done to Alec McCormack, who officiated the fixture, and did well throughout. A credit to NTDL. All in all both teams could argue that they could have taken all three points, but a share of the spoils on this occasion seems fitting.

Best on the day for RFC were: Michael O Gorman, Patrick Dawson and Conor Nolan. Michael for his two goals and Paddy and Conor for their relentless work in the middle. Well done to Phillip Deegan and Kieran Devitt who seemed to be cover every blade of grass in the sweltering heat.
