Understrength Rearcross outfit lose out to Killavilla Utd

Killavilla were the visitors to Rearcross for the Premier Division league fixture. Rea who were missing 6 key players due to injury and other commitments and it was Killavilla who dominated the opening exchanges. They nearly took the lead in the 10th minute when a ball broke inside the box from a corner and the low strike had Cathal Kennedy beaten only for Callum Wallace to scramble back to clear off the line. Despite their dominance Rea were defending well and reducing Killavilla to half chances. It was a bit of fortune that saw Villa take the lead when a corner was swung in from the right and Conor Nolan was unlucky to turn the ball into his own net. Despite going 1 nil down Rea had their best spell of the match. Michael O Gorman found himself one on one only for the keeper to pull off a great save. On the stroke of halftime Rea went 2 nil down when a dangerous cross from the right into the 6-yard box was turned into the net by Philly Deegan. The game was effectively killed off 5 minutes into the 2nd half when Johnny Corboy collected the ball outside the box and beat his marker before unleashing a bullet of a strike which found the corner of the net. Killavilla emptied their bench and it was 2 substitutes who added goals 4 and 5. Josh Wynne finished a well worked move when a cross from the right found him in the box and he kept his composure to finish to the net. Eddie Simmons added the 5th goal when he was played in one on one with the keeper and slotted it low to the net.
