Rearcross ‘A’ lose out to Killavilla by the odd goal in three

Rearcross FC welcomed Killavilla FC to Rea on Sunday morning. Killavilla went home with three points but were lucky to do so with the way the game unfolded. Killavilla had the lion’s share of possession inside their own half for a large part of the first half. Rearcross managed to create the better opportunities throughout the game. Brian Nolan came close when he arrived late to the back post. His diving headed effort went the wrong side of the post and into the side netting. In a game that only had a single digit amount of chances it was clear that if you took your opportunity you would be rewarded. Killavilla converted the two sights on goal that they had and this was the difference. Rearcross FC struck first when James Deegan gathered a loose ball before driving the ball over the Killavilla goalies reach into the back of the net. Rearcross FC had a number of chances in the game. James Deegan drove an effort across the face of goal, Darragh Kennedy had an effort blocked by the Killavilla goalie at the near post. Following good play from Darragh Kennedy, Cillian Kennedy did stroke the ball into the Killavilla net but this was brought back for an offside infringement. Killavilla did strike twice to win the tie. Killavilla’s two goals came from poor Rearcross FC defending. With the Rea men keeping the Killavilla attackers at bay for the majority of the fixture, two loose balls which weren't dealt with properly allowed the Killavilla Attackers to get a clear chance on goal. Josh Wynne got the first goal from a tap in and Ruairí Murphy finished from an acute angle to give Killavilla the lead. Rearcross FC had the majority of chances throughout the game. James Deegan had a further effort hit the post and into the side netting after getting across his man to get on the end of a Stephen Rochford cross. Rearcross FC left the field somewhat deflated after having enough chances to take all three points but look forward to their remaining fixtures. Rearcross FC would like to wish Killavilla all the best in their remaining fixtures over the coming weeks. All present at the game would like to thank the Referee and his team of officials, in what was an entertaining fixture. Well done to the Match Officials.
