Rearcross 'A' off to a flier in the Premier League

Rearcross FC welcomed Lough Derg FC to Rearcross in the opening fixture for both sets of teams. Both teams brought a brand of passing football to the fixture. Rearcross FC found their feet after the first ten minutes and began to create a number of chances. Brian Nolan went close when he arrived late into the box, only for the Lough Derg keeper to save with his feet. Rearcross FC came close with a number of corners and attacking free kicks. Paddy Deegan had an effort smack the crossbar, to the luck of the Lough Derg defense who were left stranded. Greg Kennedy also had an effort tipped over the bar by the Lough Derg keeper.  0-0 at half time.
Rearcross FC unlucky not to have a handful of goals scored. Lough Derg to their credit had their own chances but nothing Cathal Kennedy and his safe hands couldn't cope with. In the 52nd minute the Rearcross FC defence won the ball in their own box and Paul Nolan burst forward in possession. This launched a counter attack which saw Michael O Gorman break through the defence and reach the end line. O Gorman then whipped in an inviting cross towards Patrick Deegan who had found space at the back post. Through an attempted intervention Lough Derg managed to push the ball into their own net. Cathal Kennedy commanded his area well and made vital saves on the few occasions he was called upon. Rearcross FC went 2-0 up in the 75th minute. Good pressure from the midfield men of Rearcross FC saw the ball break to Patrick Deegan, who took a touch before firing home for Rea. A great finish into the roof of the net. Rearcross had a handful of free kicks from the edge of the area, and a similar amount again in corners but failed to convert, although did come close on a number of occasions. Red Card for Lough Derg in the 82nd minute. A late mistimed lunge more that anything else.  Nobody injured and well acted upon by the Match Official. Rearcross FC made it 3-0 when Matthew Feehan burst through the last line of defence and found himself in space in front of goal. A well placed effort into the bottom corner sealed the three points for Rearcross FC. Kieran Devitt and Darragh Kennedy in Midfield ensured that throughout the evening Lough Derg did not an inch in the middle of the park to gain any momentum. Well done to all involved!
