Rearcross 'A' get back to winning ways

Rearcross welcomed Sallypark for their 2nd home game of the current league campaign. It was the home side who made the early running and James Deegan nearly put the hosts 1 nil up after 2 minutes but his strike went the wrong side of the post. A couple of minutes later James would make up for it as he put Rea 1 nil up. A great pass in over the defense by Paddy Dawson saw James beat the offside trap and before the keeper had to time to get set James low strike finished to the corner of the net. Five minutes later it was 2 nil when a good team move saw Cillian Kennedy dig the ball out to Michael O Gorman whose low strike gave the keeper no chance. Rea had several chances to add to their tally with Michael O Gorman coming close when a dangerous cross from the right saw his 1st time volley crash off the inside of the post and somehow bounce away to safety. Rea did get their 3rd of the afternoon with 5 minutes remaining when a quick break from the back saw Michael O Gorman put in one on one but the keeper pulled off a great save, however the ball broke kindly to James Deegan to tap into an empty net. Credit to Sallypark though as they pulled a goal back right on the stroke of halftime. A mix up in the Rea defense saw R Gillick get in behind and he duly obliged with a 1st time finish.
The 2nd half took on the same pattern as the 1st half with Rea having the majority of the ball. They had further chances to extend the lead with Paul Nolan coming closest when his pile driver came back off the crossbar with the keeper all but beaten. Cillian Kennedy would add a 4th goal on the 65th minute when he intercepted a pass out from the back and he then beat the defender and his low strike at the near post had too much power for the keeper to get near. Rea would round off the scoring with 10 minutes remaining, good work in midfield by Paddy Dawson saw him drive at the backline, he played a great pass in behind to James Deegan who unselfishly squared the ball to Rob Harrington for a simple finish. A good result for Rea which sees them back to winning ways after back to back defeats.
