Comprehensive victory for Rearcross 'B' over Ballymackey 'B'

Rearcross ‘B’ were at home to Ballymackey ‘B’ on Sunday morning and secured maximum points with a comprehensive 6-1 result against the Ballinree side. Rea started on the front foot and came close in the 5th minute when Kieran Devitt’s glancing header was just wide from a Callum Wallace delivery from out on the right. Rearcross went ahead in the 8th minute when a pin point free kick from the left was finished from close range by Mikey Feehan. The game was end to end until the 36th minute when a quick throw ball from Donnacha O’Brien found Rob Harrington who set up Callum Wallace at the back post who finished with aplomb. The Congo Bar sponsored outfit finished the half on a high when Rob Harrington’s corner kick on 38 minutes found Mikey Feehan who laid back to Donnacha O’Brien who sent a rasping volley to the back of the net to give Rea a commanding half time lead.
Rearcross enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the 2nd half and increased their tally to four in the 64th minute when a long clearance from goalkeeper Brian Hammersley found Rob Harrington who headed on to Aidan Bryan who in turn beat his marker on the left, before sending a glorious ball across the box to Mikey Feehan who finished with ease. Ballymackey pulled a goal back twelve minutes from time after Craig Kenneally was on the mark, however it was a case of too little too late as Mikey Feehan completed his hat-trick on 88 minutes when a long ball from Paul Ryan put Mikey Feehan behind the visiting defence and the in form striker gloriously flicked the ball over the onrushing Ballymackey custodian to cap off a splendid hat-trick to give Rea a 5-1 advantage. It was game, set and match in the 90th minute after Rob Harrington swung in a threatening corner kick which finished in the net after coming off a Ballymackey player. Best for Rea on the day were Rob Harrington and hat-trick hero Mikey Feehan who has now bagged 5 goals in two games.
